What it is about
Brass: Birmingham is an economic game for 2–4 players set in the Industrial Revolution. Across two eras — first canals, then railways — you build industries, connect them to markets and sell goods to earn victory points. On your turn you discard a card and take an action: Build, Network, Develop, Sell, Loan, Scout or Pass; you normally take two actions per turn, though the first round of the Canal Era gives you only one. Coal mines, iron works and breweries flip when their resource runs out; cotton mills, manufacturers and potteries flip when you sell their goods to a merchant using beer. At the end of each era you score flipped tiles and links, and after the Rail Era the player with the most points wins. The key is an efficient network, steady income and using actions that may also help your rivals.
